With the additions of D.J. Moore, D’Onta Foreman, Robert Tonyan, and Nate Davis, my hope is that the Chicago Bears won’t do much punting this year.
Even still … I suppose there is no problem with a little bit of offseason punting competition.
You know, just to get some work in.
With that being said, Trenton Gill has someone joining him in the specialists room as Ryan Anderson used his own twitter account to announce he was signing with the Bears:

Anderson, 27, is a Rutgers product who was first-team All-Big Ten in 2017 and recipient of the Eddleman-Fields Punter of the Year award. And if you’re not familiar with his work, then don’t feel too bad. Let’s be honest with each other, we’re not diving in head-first into Rutgers football. However, Anderson’s name might be familiar because he did work out with the Bears in October 2022. Anderson is a left-footed punter. And at the time of his reported workout (h/t Aaron Wilson), the Bears were preparing to take on a left-footed punter in the Commanders’ Tress Way. So it made sense that the Bears were working him out. Fast forward to April 2023 and he is in line to spend the offseason working out with Chicago’s football team.
Maybe Anderson’s signing is a product of a good workout and leaving a good impression. So let that be a lesson to those of you who need a reminder to always put their best foot forward. Left foot. Right foot. Punter’s foot. Whatever. Do it big because you never know what will come of it later.
