Now that’s a shocker I didn’t expect before today’s game. Or after Spring Training at all.
Michael just dropped a bombshell:
I won’t speak for Michael, but USUALLY these kinds of reports drop when a deal is in the works, and there are just some final bits to address. I am tentatively very excited, because this seems to be something that is happening. That, despite the fact that it seemed like negotiations ended during Spring Training.
Now I immediately think about Jed Hoyer’s comments on the broadcast last night, when talking about Nico Hoerner’s extension – he also mentioned talks with Ian Happ, and they didn’t seem quite as past-tense-y as I would’ve expected. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now I wonder if he knew something was close.
