Depending on your perspective, former football player Tim Tebow taking on professional baseball at age 29 for the first time since high school is a light-hearted story about trying even in the face of constant opposition, a sideshow worth following because it’s kinda wild, or an insult to the hundreds of other minor leaguers who’ve been working to try to make the big leagues for years and years of their lives.
Me? I probably fall pretty close to the middle of those three groups, probably skewing slightly toward the first one. If Tebow shows he can hang a little bit and puts in the work, who am I to say he can’t give it a go?

So, of course, in an almost flagrant show of love for the haterz, Tebow did this in his first professional minor league at bat:

You’ll have to forgive Tebow for thinking he only had a double at first. He’s new.
To be fair, Tebow is currently play for the Low-A Columbia Fireflies, which is a far cry from, say, facing Max Scherzer.
But he’s standing in there against a professional pitcher (Giants prospect Domenic Mazza, for the historical record) and Tebow comes to the table with so little experience. It’s just one swing … but it’s a little impressive. You can admit it.
