2017 has been the year of the home run oddities:
In no particular order, we’ve seen 1) Ezequiel Carrera miss the fact that he hit a home run altogether, 2) Amanda Ivy crash into the wall at MSU for a robbery, 3) Mark Reynolds hit a home run with a broken bat, 4) Aaron Judge break the Statcast HR exit velocity record, 5) Seth Smith score an inside the parker on a bloop single to game’s best defensive center fielder, 6) an Alabama soft-ball player get called out after missing home plate on her game-tying home run (because of the celebration), and so, so, so much more.
But I have at least one more oddity to add to the list …
… And that’s Jesus Aguilar getting #sad on the base paths, because he believes that the Padres center fielder, Manuel Margot, robbed him of his third career home run:

That’s just too funny.

Aguilar was genuinely convinced that Margot took away his homer, I mean take a look at the obvious levels of disappointment, and eventually disbelief, in his eyes:
But in reality, he just made a really exciting-looking leap into the air. So, you know, run home, Jesus, run home!
Through 36 games (though just 63 PAs), Aguilar is batting .300/.333/.600 with three homers, including that one. Not a bad start for a guy who’s never been worth more than -0.1 WAR.
