Updated Final Four Odds: UConn Betting Favorite To Win 2024 March Madness

Back at it after an exciting second weekend, time to look at the new Final Four Odds!

The confetti has settled, the nets have been cut down, and only four teams remain in the race for college basketball’s ultimate prize: the National Championship. The Final Four is upon us, and with it comes a renewed frenzy of analysis, predictions, and of course, betting. As fans gear up for a weekend of thrilling matchups, let’s delve into the latest odds and see which team stands out as the favorite to claim the crown.

Current Final Four Odds (DraftKings):

  • Connecticut -190
  • Purdue +205
  • North Carolina State +1600
  • Alabama +1600
  • UConn Huskies: Back-to-Back Dreams

The defending champions, the UConn Huskies, unsurprisingly find themselves atop the betting board. After a dominant run through the tournament, including a convincing victory over San Diego State in last year’s championship game, UConn boasts a perfect 4-0 record. Their victories haven’t just been wins; they’ve been emphatic statements, with an average margin of victory exceeding 27 points. This dominance has translated into a clear edge from sportsbooks, with UConn sitting at -11.5 favorites in their upcoming matchup against Alabama.

Head Coach Dan Hurley has skillfully navigated the loss of key players like Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins to the NBA. Underclassmen standouts Donovan Clingan, Stephon Castle, and Alex Karaban have seamlessly integrated into the system, while senior Tristen Newton provides veteran leadership. UConn’s stifling defense, anchored by a deep and athletic frontcourt, continues to be a nightmare for opposing offenses. This defensive prowess, coupled with their potent balanced attack, makes the Huskies a formidable force.

Final Four Odds, to win the Championship: -195

Purdue Boilermakers: Redemption Story Coming to a Close?

Everyone recalls how disappointing the end of last season was for Purdue. As just the second top seed to ever lose a first-round game, they certainly have a chip on their shoulder, even as a team that’s been a favorite in its tournament matchups so far.

Zach Edey is a FORCE. If he continues to demand the attention that he’s been getting, it’ll be a very tall (sorry) task to stop Purdue from reaching the finals. They’ll be trying to do just what the infamous Virginia team did a few years back: win it all the year after a first-round embarrassment.

Final Four Odds, to win the Championship:+205

    Alabama Crimson Tide: Surprise Semifinalists

Standing in UConn’s path are the Alabama Crimson Tide. Led by the dynamic backcourt duo of Mark Sears and Aaron Estrada, Alabama presents a significant threat. Their high-octane offense, averaging over 80 points per game, is capable of lighting up the scoreboard against any opponent. However, questions surround their ability to contain UConn’s physicality on the defensive end.

Despite entering the tournament as a four seed, Alabama has defied expectations with impressive wins over higher-ranked opponents. Their upset victory over a talented North Carolina team was a testament to their resilience and clutch play. At +510 on the moneyline, Alabama offers an attractive option for bettors looking for an upset this weekend.

Final Four Odds, to win the Championship: +1600

    Everyone’s Favorite Cinderella: The Wolfpack

This is a team that finished the season 17-14. A team that lost their final four games heading into postseason play. A team still not getting the respect they likely deserve. Since March 12th, they’ve beaten everyone in their path, twice needing overtime to stay alive.

If DJ Burns and this NC State team can win even just ONE more game, they will be even more entrenched into the history books as one of the best low-seed runs we’ve seen in quite a while.

Final Four Odds, to win the Championship: +1600

These are just a few of the many betting opportunities available for the Final Four.

Beyond the Numbers: Final Four Odds Intangibles and Upsets

While the odds can offer valuable insight, it’s important to remember that college basketball is a sport full of surprises. Injuries, hot shooting nights, and clutch performances can all play a role in determining the outcome of a game. The experience of playing in the pressure cooker of the Final Four can also be a significant factor. Teams like UConn with their championship pedigree, may have an edge over younger teams when it comes to handling the intensity of the big stage.

A Weekend of Spectacle Awaits: Final Four Odds Prediction and Conclusion

With the stage set for an unforgettable weekend of college basketball, predicting a champion becomes a tantalizing exercise. While UConn boasts a dominant record and a well-rounded team, their path to the championship is far from guaranteed. Purdue presents a serious offensive threat, while both Alabama and North Carolina State possess the skill and coaching to challenge for the title.

Here’s a tentative prediction based on the Final Four Odds: UConn will likely overcome Alabama in a tightly contested semifinal, thanks to their superior defense and inside presence. The other semifinal between Purdue and NC State proves to be a good battle of big men, with the ‘Pack pulling off another late upset!

Ultimately, the championship game could pit UConn’s stifling defense against the plucky Wolfpack. This would be a classic matchup between experience and youthful exuberance. I’ve already had my fun in picking the Wolfpack to make it to the title game, I’ll go with a bit more of a realistic look here: UConn 88, NC State, 71.

No matter who emerges victorious, one thing is certain: the 2024 Final Four promises to be a thrilling spectacle for college basketball fans everywhere. With talented teams, passionate coaches, and the ultimate prize on the line, prepare for a weekend of drama, high stakes, and unforgettable moments.

The Final Four Odds are what the market is predicting, but again: This is March, and anything can happen.
