As you know, injured pitchers Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner were evaluated by team doctors today, but there isn’t much to say yet.
I suspect, however, that the news on Wells is probably good, as he was spotted playing catch today (the first time he’s thrown a ball in a couple weeks). That is not to say that his rehab won’t be extensive, and it’s not to say that the news on Cashner is worse than Wells. The Cubs were expecting Cashner to be out a couple weeks longer than Wells, both because of the nature of his injury and his youth.
So, on the balance, this non-news is pretty good news. We’ll know more hopefully as soon as tomorrow.
