If only God had a Hall of Fame vote, eh?
Barry Bonds offers his thoughts on whether there’s a place in the Hall for him:
For me, Bonds is a Hall of Famer, divine intervention or not. Obviously everyone would agree, by the numbers, alone, Bonds is a Hall of Famer. The question is how much the steroid stuff impacts the decision, and I respect that, for many, it absolutely ends the conversation.
I think his point is interesting that no player would say he’s not a Hall of Famer, given that much of the resistance to his inclusion in the Hall comes from former players who believe any player who used PEDs cheated and doesn’t belong.
I also think it’s interesting that he got right into something like that in his first media interview after taking over as the Marlins’ new hitting coach. It’s going to be a long – and interesting! – year in Miami.
