Everybody loves a good manager tirade/freakout/what-have-you, but I’ll admit, lately they’ve been pretty boring. Well, maybe boring isn’t the right word. More like vanilla, plain, familiar.
Gone are the days of creativity: the rosin bag grenades and army crawling to the mound, the drop kicking of one’s own shoe, and Lou Piniella just, you know, doing his thing. For the most part, we get a couple of strong words, a quick ejection, and fiery walk back to the dugout.
That is until Brad Ausmus decided to lose his mind in a wonderful way:

“I didn’t even like that shirt anyway!” – Brad Ausmus…probably
It’s fairly common for managers to kick dirt on – or cover – home plate in one way or another, but rarely do you see one disrobe for the sole purpose of hiding the dish. And unless home plate umpire Doug Eddings has the object permanence of a toddler, I suspect he’ll remember where it is.
Still, who doesn’t love a good freakout?
Or maybe Ausmus was just being helpful:
