To what extent – would you guess – is the overlap between fans of Major League Baseball and fans of the HBO water-cooler show Game of Thrones?
Since I’d love to live in my own fantasy world wherein everyone on Earth enjoys 100% of the things I do, I’ll guess that the overlap between the two fan groups is quite strong.
But, of course, that GoT overlap is not just limited to fans of Major League Baseball – plenty of players like to indulge in some Sunday-night dragon-fire and bloodshed, and some of them even take that a step further.
Indeed, back in March, we caught word that Mets’ star pitcher Noah Syndergaard was flying to Spain to film a cameo in Game of Thrones. We didn’t know when he’d appear in the show, what sort of character he’d play or how long he’d be visible, but like Winter, we knew it was coming.
Well, last night he finally appeared:

DUH! A Lannister!
With that streaking blonde hair that should’ve been an easy guess! And how about that spear toss? I’m glad to see that the Lannister army is using Syndergaard’s strengths in battle. Unfortunately, given the way the rest of that scene played out, I’m guessing we won’t be seeing much more of that particular soldier in the future.
Oh well, at least he fought bravely.
