Vladimir Guerrero Sr. Not Only Can Still Crush It, But He Will Admire His Work Like No Other

Although we are living in the era of Vlad Guerrero Jr., it was his poppa who came first, hit everything, and wound up in the Hall of Fame.

And almost as though to remind his son, if not all of the rest of us, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., 47, wanted to show folks that he could still hit a monster shot – even if only for fun:

That’s a legend right there (bonus points for wearing the Expos jersey and number). We can presume that one went 400+, and we can call it homer 450 for his career. And it’s not just that he hit a monster bomb at his age, it’s that he STOOD THERE ADMIRING IT in a simple fun hometown game in the Dominican Republic. That is, indeed, how you have some fun.

I mean, the guy stands there, unmoving, for a full five seconds before starting his trot. Was that the umpire letting him know it was time to jog? This is a Hall of Famer! Let the man get to six seconds if he wants!

Also, whenever I think of Vlad, I think of this throw. So I am legally required to share it:

Hayden Wesnasty Is Back and Looking Sharper Than Ever

Brewers Keep Winning, Cubs Bullpen Turning Way Up (But They Still Need a Closer), and Other Cubs Bullets

More Fun with Pete Crow-Armstrong’s First-Hit Home Run

It is CORRECT to say that an 0-fer to start a player's big league career, even a long 0-fer, does not alone represent who that player is. Young players are going to have adjustment periods. Also hitless stretches happen for...

Pete Crow-Armstrong’s First Big League? A GO-AHEAD, GAME-WINNING HOME RUN!

Boy did he need that! The Chicago Cubs top prospect, Pete Crow-Armstrong, was promoted this week not because he was quite ready offensively, but rather out of necessity after injuries to multiple Cubs outfielders. And predictably, he looked over-matched on...
