Sometimes a play just has to be seen. It’s not necessarily shocking or dramatic, but it’s just a ridiculous and enjoyable part of baseball. And it offers an opportunity to introduce more folks to one of the best players in the world.
As Daniel Kim notes, 23-year-old outfielder Jung-hoo Lee is arguably the best player in Korea’s top league, consistently a .340/.415/.520 hitter the last three years (again, when he was just 21-23). So that’s your introduction, but also, holy crap this hit:
Best all around player in #KBO is Jung-hoo Lee of #KiwoomHeroes. He will be playing in #MLB in a couple of years. pic.twitter.com/iQ9klGXTQ8— Daniel Kim 대니얼 ê¹€ (@DanielKimW) June 18, 2022
That’s a solid single on a pitch no batter even has business making CONTACT with, much less ripping it to right field. That bat control is incredible.
Look again at Lee’s feet as he swings. They literally come off the ground in unison as he’s sliding them backwards and swinging at the same time. It’s like a golf swing if you were also moonwalking in the air while swinging. Also, the golf ball isn’t stationary, it’s flying in at at almost 90 mph with sinking action.
Keep Jung-hoo Lee on your radar. Not only is he entertaining in the KBO right now, but he can be posted for MLB teams after the 2023 season.
