Wander Franco Flipped the Ball to Himself Mid-Play, Just Because

People use the term “swag” far too loosely in connection with baseball. I’m not saying I have a perfect definition, but (1) I know it when I see it, and (2) not everything people describe as being laden with swag actually is.

So, being that I am now the arbiter of swag, I want to show you something Wander Franco just did, because it is THE DEFINITION of swag on the baseball diamond:

Yes, that is Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco snagging a one-hopper and then FLIPPING THE BALL TO HIMSELF before making the throw to first base. That is a live ball! The runner was bearing down on first! Can you even imagine if you messed that up?

Maybe you can imagine it. Wander Franco cannot imagine it. He has swag.
