Let The Countdown Begin! Bears Open Training Camp On July 26

Chicago Bears

We don’t know what lies ahead for the Chicago Bears in 2017, but we know when and where the journey will begin:

The end of July will mark the start of a new era in Chicago football. With Mike Glennon taking over for Jay Cutler at the quarterback position, and first-round pick Mitch Trubisky waiting in the wings as the heir apparent. I’m already a little antsy to see what the quarterback competition will look like in camp, even if the starting job is firmly in Glennon’s hands.

Glennon and Trubisky are just two of the newest faces from an offseason that has produced much turnover. The Bears signed a slew of new starters including two free agent receivers (Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton), a tight end (Dion Sims), two cornerbacks (Marcus Cooper, Prince Amukamara), and a safety (Quintin Demps). In total, the Bears added at least 12 new free agents to a roster in desperate need of some fresh blood.

Tack on five draft picks, a healthy crop of undrafted free agents ready to fight for a position battle, and some healthy returnees (Kyle Long, Kevin White, etc.) and the Bears will be somewhat interesting to watch as camp develops.
