It’s halftime and the Chicago Bears trail the New Orleans Saints 14-3, but Mitch Trubisky has more passing attempts than Drew Brees.
I don’t blame you if you don’t believe me, but here’s visual proof of the use of the forward pass by Trubisky and the Bears offense:

Not only is it great to see Trubisky connect on a 45-yard pass to Tre McBride III, it’s comforting seeing him do so on a straight drop out of center. The pitch-and-catch put the Bears in a great position to put up their first offensive touchdown since Week 6, but couldn’t punch it in despite a trip into the red zone. McBride’s grab set up a 27-yard field goal for Connor Barth.
Trubisky also had a 25-yard throw to McBride, but Barth missed a 48-yard field goal attempt wide left that would have cut the Saints’ lead to 14-6.

The Bears haven’t opened up the passing offense often for Mitch Trubisky, but he’s made the most of his opportunities. He’ll need to do more in the second half as the Bears will be working their way back from an 11-point halftime deficit.
