Even though the Green Bay Packers enter this game short-handed, this has the feel of a turning point game for the Chicago Bears – specifically on the defensive side of the ball.
With Aaron Rodgers out (collarbone), the playing field has leveled and we should get a chance to see how far these Bears have really come. Draft picks like Leonard Floyd, Eddie Goldman, Adrian Amos, and Eddie Jackson have an opportunity to pick on a fifth-round quarterback and a weakened offensive line. Recent free agent additions such as Prince Amukamara, Akiem Hicks, Marcus Cooper, and others have a chance to show why the front office brought them to Chicago to provide a veteran presence to a young defense.
While there is a heightened sense of importance for a Mitch Trubisky-led offense to perform after a bye week, this is an opportunity for Chicago’s defense to show it can take advantage of a prime situation.
We’ll see if this group is up for the challenge.
