A little bit of friendly fire has sent two Chicago Bears defenders to the sideline.
Cornerback Kyle Fuller went low in an attempt to tackle Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick, but instead hit outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, who was slow to get up and eventually carted off the field. It appeared as if Floyd’s right knee bent awkwardly upon contact from Fuller’s shoulder. As for Fuller, he was quick to get up but ran to the locker room to be examined. Fuller’s left hand was bloodied, but the bigger concern is with Floyd after a fluke-ish injury.
The last thing the Chicago Bears need is another injured starter.
It’s been a rough game for the Bears on the injury front. Wide receiver Josh Bellamy is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after going down after blocking on a pass to running back Tarik Cohen. Jordan Howard missed some time early with an injury. Right tackle Bobby Massie added a club to his hand for the second half. Defensive end Akiem Hicks was slow to get up after a first-down stop of Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah with 5:24 left in the third quarter. Hicks would return to the field after getting his ankle taped.
