I was holding out hope that there would be nothing new (re: the Bears’ latest injury report), but unfortunately, there is a minor something-or-other that popped up on Thursday:
#Bears Thursday Injury Report:
DNP: Dion Sims (concussion)
Limited: Javon Wims (knee)— Chicago Bears (@BearsPR) November 15, 2018
Rookie wide receiver Javon Wims was limited in practice because of a knee injury. And because Wims is new to the injury report, it probably means the injury occurred in Thursday’s practice. The Bears probably won’t share the extent of the injury until Head Coach Matt Nagy meets the media on Friday and shares details of what went down. Hopefully, it’s a minor tweak and something that won’t keep him out of the mix this weekend.
Friday’s practices are generally lighter than ones earlier in the week, so the hope would be that a rested Wims could get back into the swing of things and prove to be healthy enough to be an available option. If not, then the Bears will have to get creative once again with their passing offense. Then again, the Bears proved last week how potent their offense can be while dressing only four wide receivers. So if it comes to it, at least the Bears are prepared to take on the challenge that could loom ahead.
Dion Sims remains on the injury report with a concussion. It’s growing more unlikely that Sims suits up this week against the Vikings. Bears tight ends (most notably, Trey Burton) have played well this season. Ben Braunecker made a nice catch of a Mitch Trubisky pass in Week 10, so it’s not as if the Bears are hurting for tight end depth.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for another uneventful injury report tomorrow and hoping the Bears can come through with some better news regarding Wims and Sims in their next update.
