Allen Robinson has been a legitimate bright spot throughout the season for an offense that hasn’t had much to write home about here in 2019.
Robinson leads the team in catches, receiving yards, touchdowns, and plays that make you yell “EXTEND HIIIIIIIIIM!” while watching the game on television. He’s also the first Bears pass-catcher to hit 1,000 yards since Alshon Jeffrey in 2014. And as fate would have it, Robinson sounds open to sticking around beyond the 2020 campaign — which happens to be the final season of a three-year contract he signed in March of 2018.

“It’s definitely something I would be interested in,” Robinson said on the podcast. “As far as going down that road, I know there’s a lot of things that go into those things, so I haven’t been doing too much thinking about that now. But as far as the community work that I do, and just how much I like Chicago, it’s definitely something I would be open to.”
Robinson has been a fan favorite since his arrival in Chicago. Between his stellar play (which deserves recognition, even if he isn’t going to the Pro Bowl) and community work (he is the Bears’ Walter Payton Man of the Year representative), there is a lot to like about Robinson. So, naturally, keeping him in Chicago is going to come up in conversation. And frankly, an extension should be a priority as soon as Robinson is ready to shift his focus away from the 2019 season.
In the end, Robinson’s openness regarding a possible extension is wonderful news in a year that hasn’t had too many things go the way of the Bears. Now, go out and get it done.
