The final injury report of the week has been released, and there has been an unforeseen plot twist.
Let’s check it out:

Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks has been listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s Bears game against the Chiefs. This is a bit of an unexpected development, seeing that Hicks had been a full participant who hadn’t been listed on any previous injury report. His status today hints at the possibility that the Bears could hold him out of the final two regular season games in order to ensure full health heading into the 2020 season. All things being equal, that is an understandable stance for the organization to take (one we discussed yesterday).
Elsewhere on the injury report, cornerback Prince Amukamara was limited for a second consecutive practice because of a nagging hamstring injury. Amukamara is listed as questionable. There is no injury designation for defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, who was limited in Friday’s practice (as is always the case when the team practices indoors).
Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel (concussion) and right tackle Bobby Massie (ankle) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game. At this point, the Bears could place both on injured reserve, clear roster spots, add deserving players from their practice squad or poach guys they like from other teams practice squads. At this point of the season, it might be a better use of team resources.
