To be fair, the Chicago Bears, under Ryan Pace, do have a fairly extensive history of rewarding their players with extensions. But while the front office was able to nail down deals with Akiem Hicks, Charles Leno Jr., Eddie Goldman, and Cody Whitehair before the final year of each player’s respective contracts, they weren’t able to with Allen Robinson. Hence, yesterday’s kerfuffle.
And even though the Bears’ best and most consistent offensive performer’s contract dispute is center stage, hope that a long-term deal gets done remains on the horizon:

So in addition to former Bears College Scouting Director Greg Gabriel passing along words that bring a calming perspective to a heated subject, Head Coach Matt Nagy revealed he spoke with Robinson regarding his contract matter. Moreover, Nagy talked about the Bears’ recent history of handing their best players worthwhile extensions. Couple that with Nagy relaying that Robinson wants to remain with the Bears is a good sign. As is the metal feeling that Chicago wants to retain Robinson.
