The hits keep on coming to an already battered Bears offensive line.
Lachavious Simmons, a seventh-round rookie who was promoted from the practice squad five days ago because of the team’s shortage of offensive linemen, is going on the reserve/COVID-19 list:
#Bears Roster Move:
We have placed OL Lachavious Simmons on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and have activated OL Aaron Neary. Simmons has been ruled out for today's game at the Titans.— Chicago Bears (@BearsPR) November 8, 2020
The Bears are at a point where they can’t even play the back-up of the back-up. Have to play the back-up’s, back-up’s, back-up!
In a corresponding move, the Bears are promoting Aaron Neary to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Titans. Based on his experience at center, it’s possible Neary could slide into the starting lineup because Cody Whitehair and backup Sam Mustipher are unavailable. Alex Bars was previously projected to get the nod, but he has no tangible experience at the position. And while Neary has just one start at center under this belt, he is a center by trade, so it would make sense on some level if he gets the nod.
UGH. I can’t even with this narrative:
I dig how the narrative is going to be that the Titans found some way to overcome their pass-rushing woes … rather than it just being the Bears O-line made of matchsticks and bubblegum. https://t.co/t7E1DJem0Q
