Eddie Jackson Wanted an Al Capone Tattoo After Being Drafted (And Other Bears Bullets)

Normalize making music videos ridiculous again:

I know music videos are going the way of the dinosaur. But man, the ridiculousness of videos in the 2000s with grand entrances, head bands, and oversized jerseys hits a soft spot for me. If I could pick one trend to come back, it would be that.

•   When I was growing up, my friends and I would kick around conversations about what we would buy when we hit the jackpot. It’s a conversation I imagine NFL hopefuls have on the come-up, then get to live out after draft day. And after the Bears selected Eddie Jackson in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, one thing he considered purchasing after the draft blows my mind. Nathan Smith (ChicagoBears.com) writes that Jackson has a thing for mob movies. So much so, Jackson considered getting an Al Capone tattoo after he was drafted by the Bears.

•   Seriously, Jackson is committed to his love of mob/cartel movies. “I’ve probably seen every one of those Al Capone stories,” Jackson said. “I already liked Al Capone, then I ended up in Chicago.” Jackson didn’t get it done, but tells Smith he wouldn’t rule it out in the future. I’ve never been a tattoo guy, but now I’m thinking about what’s the most Chicago tattoo I could get. Hmmm.

•   I hope you took some time to vote Jackson’s star teammate Akiem Hicks into the Pro Bowl. There are few players who are as much fun to watch play their position than Hicks. As evidenced by this hype video:

•   Doesn’t that make you want to run through a wall to vote?

•   Speaking of Pro Bowl caliber performances, Roquan Smith finds himself in fine company with this group:

•   Ray Lewis is a Hall of Fame. Luke Kuechly will certainly join him in Canton someday soon. Lavonte David is a Pro Bowler and All-Pro who has played at a high level going on 10 years now. This is hashtag: elite company Smith finds himself in, and the season isn’t even over yet. There’s still ample snaps to reach some new highs.

•   Roquan Smith’s 2020 space: 150 tackles (105 solo), 21 tackles-for-loss, 7 QB Hits, 5 sacks. That’ll play.

•   I’m taking a moment to note that wearing a mask in the Chicago winter does wonders to keep my face warm:

•   Only in 2020:

•   Rescheduling practice because a courier error in delivering the team’s COVID test results in a timely manner isn’t something I thought would come up as a storyline this year. But here we are.

•   Mitchell Trubisky is on the doorstep of Bears history:

•   Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner has his eyes on the Bears this weekend:

•   Matt Nagy told reporters that Mario Edwards Jr. will continue prating as the team and league go through the legal process stemming through the assault allegations that surfaced publicly this week. The league could still put him on the Commissioner’s Exempt List between now and game day as things sort out. We’ll keep an eye on this situation as it develops.

•   I love seeing stuff like this:
