When I get reeeeeeally obsessive about a transaction watch, I can’t help but also get a little silly. I want the Chicago Bears to acquire Russell Wilson (or Deshaun Watson) so badly that I’m poring over every possible little tweet or clue or signal or hope-filled fart out there.
So I will absolutely admit up front that this is almost certainly nothing. There are lots of explanations. But the Seattle Seahawks just sent out their season ticket holder letter, and although DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett come in for personalized mentions, a certain KINDA IMPORTANT franchise quarterback is nowhere to be found:

Hey, who was throwing the ball to those guys who set single-season receiving records? Weird, right?
I think it’s possible there is absolutely nothing here, and the folks in charge of this letter just didn’t see an angle to mention Wilson in the same way that there was reason to mention the other two (and the new coaches). I also think it’s possible, however, that recent very public strife between Wilson and the organization could have been a tiebreaker in keeping him out of the thing. That would be both a “just in case” situation, and also just to not invite any unnecessary scorn. (Of course, leaving him out invited unnecessary speculation, so what can you do?)
My best guess is that if there wasn’t a really, really good reason to include Wilson by name, so the tiebreaker was the awkward situation and they decided to leave him out. The flow of the letter doesn’t necessarily require his name, though it’s worth pointing out that he did set a Seahawks record with 40 touchdown passes, posted a career-best 73.5 QBR, and had the most combined passing and rushing yards of his career …
Now we just have to wait to see if the Bears season ticket holder letter has a line like … “And Russell Wilson’s camp reportedly said he would accept a trade to us!”
