Seeing a handful of Bears players show up on the Reserve/COVID-19 list last week was worrisome for a team battling the injury bug and depth issues elsewhere on the roster. But in the days that have since passed, we’ve begun to see them come off the list and back onto the practice field.
And now, there are no Bears players on the reserve/COVID list:
We have activated Eddie Goldman from the reserve/COVID-19 list.https://t.co/QUEIXYm7IT

The team announced Eddie Goldman is coming off the COVID list. Goldman, who sat out last season due to concerns regarding the 2020 pandemic, had a handful of practices under his belt before missing time due to his placement on the COVID list. I don’t imagine he will play in Saturday’s preseason opener. But when practice resumes on Monday, I would expect Goldman to get back on the practice field.
In the meantime, rookie seventh-round pick Khyiris Tonga is taking the vast majority of reps at nose tackle. That’s good for the rookie’s development. After all, no one should ever waste a crisis. So Tonga might as well get it in while he can, because Goldman is coming for those first-team reps.
