The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were set to embark on a journey to replace Tom Brady — the greatest quarterback to ever do it — who retired after the team’s postseason elimination.
As it turns out, all roads to Brady’s replacement ultimately led back to him:
These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG pic.twitter.com/U0yhRKVKVm

That’s exactly right. Tom Brady just announced his return to football. On Twitter. Call it an itch that couldn’t be scratched. Or an unfinished business tour. Whatever it is, it is an absolute game changer in the NFL.
Because just when Aaron Rodgers was set to return to Green Bay and position the Packers as the top team in the NFC, Brady returns for another season. A shocker, to be sure. But what a kickoff just ahead of the free agency frenzy that awaits.
And in case you’re wondering, yes, Brady will be the oldest quarterback to start a game in NFL history, when he makes his first start next season.
Oh, also, somebody JUST bought Brady’s “last” TD ball at an auction for $500K … last night. Ouch.
