Every year, the NFL sets a date to announce the league’s schedule release. And every year, like clockwork, leaks begin flooding the web informing fans what’s coming down the pipeline. So by the time the schedule drops, there will be a good chance that it’s already out there for consumption.
To its credit, the league has made made an attempt to generate its own pre-release buzz by trickling out certain high-profile games here and there. But to this point, none have featured the Bears.
However, that seems to be changing. And you can thank some well-positioned people sharing Green Bay Packers schedule nuggets:
Hearing the #Packers open on the road for the 4th straight year.
According to a #LittleBirdie the home opener is Week 2 vs Chicago on @SNFonNBC

Allrightythen! We’ve got some Bears schedule nuggets, albeit in an indirect fashion. The most notable being a primetime Week 2 matchup against the Packers in primetime at Lambeau Field. This marks the 83rd year in a row in which Chicago and Green Bay have met under the lights north of the cheddar curtain. OK, it hasn’t been that many times consecutively for these teams in this series. But it sure feels like it, right?
Ten of the last 11 matchups at Lambeau have been primetime night games. And once this becomes officially official, that’ll make 11 of 12. The Bears have had just one such home game in the same time span, which is ultra whack. Then again, maybe that’s not a bad thing. After all, football was intended to be played at noon CT on Sundays. And I’ll hear nothing to the contrary.
As for the other inferred schedule nugget here is the assumption of Bears-Vikings closing out the regular season in Minnesota for the gajillionth season in a row. With Packers-Lions closing things out in Week 18 on one side of the NFC North bracket, it leaves us with yet another a Bears-Vikings tilt. Hopefully, this year, having a defensive-leaning head coach and a pair of rookie DBs will aid the Bears in slowing down Justin Jefferson.
Hey, we can dream — can’t we?
More schedule stuff to come as the day chugs along. So stay tuned.
