Former NFL Player and TV Personality Tony Siragusa Passes at 55

It’s been a rough day to be a Baltimore Ravens fan — or a football fan in general. First, we learned of the tragic passing of 26-year-old linebacker Jaylon Ferguson early this morning, and now former Ravens defensive tackle Tony Siragusa has passed away at the age of 55.

TMZ broke the story this afternoon after receiving confirmation from former Ravens running back Jamal Lewis, who told TMZ, “It’s a sad day to be a Raven, I must say.” Lewis or TMZ provided no cause of death at this time.

Siragusa played 12 seasons in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens, registering 22 sacks and 564 tackles. He joined the Ravens in 1997 and was a part of Baltimore’s squad that won Super Bowl XXXV in 2000, one of my favorite teams to watch as a kid.

“Goose” became more nationally known when he retired from the league and joined the NFL on FOX crew in 2003. Siragusa provided a comedic flare to his sideline reporting from 2003 to 2015.

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted his condolences this afternoon. Siragusa signed with Irsay’s Colts as an undrafted free agent in 1990 after a 1988 ACL injury in college destroyed his one-time first-round projection in the NFL Draft.

More condolences and tributes from those that were touched by The Goose:
