Zach Cable Announces He is Joining the Bears’ Coaching Staff
Some years feature heavy turnover in the coaching ranks. And in others, not so much. The pivot from Year 1 to Year 2 wasn’t expected to be met by a ton of changes for Matt Eberflus’ coaching staff. However, we’ve got a noteworthy addition to the group.
Northern Colorado Linebackers Coach Zach Cable is making the jump from the college ranks to the pros. He even made the announcement on Twitter:
Cable’s Twitter profile now features “Offensive Quality Control for the Chicago Bears” in the bio. Which is fun. And he goes from coaching linebackers for the Northern Colorado Bears to coaching with the Chicago Bears. So that #GoBears hashtag in his profile doesn’t have to go anywhere. Cable has previous NFL coaching experience with the Oakland and Las Vegas Raiders. He is also the son of Tom Cable, a long-time offensive line coach in the NFL who was the Raiders’ head coach from 2008-10. So at least he has coaching bloodlines running through him.
I don’t want to get too far in the weeds when it comes to an offensive quality control coach. But I can appreciate Eberflus’ staff growing and adding new perspectives to the group. Particularly with Cable, a coach with experience on both sides of the ball and at the pro and college levels. Hopefully, he can lend a helping hand and aid the Bears toward better days.
