The Bears are Playing Mini-Golf and Darts with Prospects at the Combine
The NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis is underway. At Lucas Oil Stadium, teams from around the league will gather information and data on a great number of prospects who will make their way onto NFL rosters when draft weekend rolls around next month. And while you can have your measurements, bench press reps, shuttle times, and whatnot, the Chicago Bears are going about unearthing prospects in a different way.
GM Ryan Poles and Head Coach Matt Eberflus have top prospects playing mini-golf and darts to get a better grasp of a player’s competitive nature:
I love it!
We knew that a new regime in Chicago would lead to new ways of doing business. And I’ve long been an advocate of putting new eyes on old problems, which often leads to different paths to finding players. But I didn’t expect this type of creativity. I apologize for not realizing you had this in your bag, guys.
Hopefully, the Bears hit bullseye with their draft picks. And may every under-the-radar diamond-in-the-rough type turn into a hole-in-one. Go get ’em, gang!
