OMG REPORT: Bears Are Trading No. 1 Pick to Panthers (And Getting DJ Moore Back!)
The Carolina Panthers — and not the Chicago Bears — are on the clock with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That’s because the Bears and Panthers just executed a jaw-dropping deal for the No. 1 overall pick. Here are the deets — and it includes Chicago getting a stud receiver.
Wowza. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to get the parameters of the deal. But it was ESPN’s Adam Schefter getting specifics. And that’s what legitimately dropped my jaw with the Bears getting multiple picks *AND* receiver DJ Moore (just as we had hoped!). Even though getting a stud receiver was on the to-do list, I can’t say I saw this coming. However, I’m oh-so-glad it did. Moore has three 1,100+ yard seasons under his belt and is the type of wideout this Bears offense needs. I can’t stop saying wow. Who saw this coming?
There’s gonna be a lot to unpack here after the Bears turned a 14-loss season into:
- The 9th pick
- 61st pick
- A 2024 first rounder
- A 2025 second rounder
- And a legit WR1
That is a job well done for GM Ryan Poles.
More to come…
UPDATE (Michael): Looks like DJ Moore is as shocked as we are!
I think often about how much of a favor Lovie Smith did the Bears at the end of the season. Franchise-altering choices, man. Huge.
