The most important thing that can come from this upcoming Bears season is that Justin Fields and D.J. Moore grow into the type of QB-WR tandem that can lead a team to victory.
And it sure sounds like Fields and Moore are well on their way to making that happen.
Chris Emma (670 The Score) has what might be the quote of the year to this point from Bears safety Jaquan Brisker, who shares what he sees from Fields and Moore:
“It looks like they got that chemistry going very fast. Earlier than I expected. They look good though. They look like they’re best friends. Justin’s definitely throwing him the ball. (No.) 2 (Moore) is getting the ball, no doubt. Justin looks good though. He’s going through his progressions. He’s looking very smooth, making good decisions out there and looking like the best quarterback in the NFL. I thought that last year, but this year it’s different. (No.) 1 looks different and him and (No. 2), you’re going to see. You will see.”
Be still my beating heart.
With the obvious caveat being that we’re still talking about practice, Bears reporters who have had eyes on OTA practices have all been relaying a sentiment that vibes with what Brisker is saying. They’re seeing on-the-field growth between QB1 and WR1. And we love to see that they’re hearing it:
I’m trying not to get *TOO* excited but I can’t help myself. This is the time of year to build chemistry and they’re doing it. And in a big way, too.
This is what Bears fans were hoping to see when we found out that GM Ryan Poles was able to snag Moore in that trade out of picking first. We’d love to see it in games of consequence, but we’ll get to that bridge (and cross it) soon enough. The most important thing, for the time being, is that Fields and Moore continue to build a rapport. There is one last round of minicamps (these are mandatory, by the way) next week before the last extended break of the offseason comes our way. And when that ends, training camp will begin. If you need me between the end of mandatory minicamp and the start of training camp, I’ll be busy plotting the most-efficient way to get the best view of Fields and Moore at the Halas Hall practice fields.
