Saquon Barkley is Heading to Philadelphia!

Saquon Barkley has a new home, and he’s staying in the NFC East. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Barkley is signing a whopping contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Barkley and the Eagles have reached an agreement on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75M and includes $26M fully guaranteed at signing.

Saquon Barkley and the Giants couldn’t get a long-term deal done despite their efforts

Barkley and the Giants have been working toward a long-term deal for nearly two years without success. Now, Barkley is cashing in with their division rival in Philadelphia.

Barkley faced contract issues last offseason but eventually returned to play on his franchise tag with slim chances of earning incentives. Despite his talent, the Giants had a disappointing season. Paying Barkley at the top of the market didn’t make much sense for a team that was destined for a rebuild in New York.

The Eagles, on the other hand, are looking to reload to make another run at a Super Bowl after a disappointing finish to their 2023 season.

“Thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support over the past six years,” Barkley said in an X post. “[F]orever grateful! Excited for the next chapter.”

Barkley, now 27, spent the first six years of his NFL career with the Giants, who drafted him at No. 2 overall in 2018. He burst onto the scene as the Offensive Rookie of the Year, amassing 1,307 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground and hauling in 91 receptions for 721 yards with four additional scores. He led the league with a total of 2,028 yards from scrimmage in his debut season.

In 2022, Barkley reclaimed his status as an elite rusher, tallying 1,312 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, contributing to the Giants’ playoff berth.

However, in 2023, Barkley’s production dipped as he recorded 962 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, and 41 receptions for 280 yards with four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, former Eagles running back D’Andre Swift has reached an agreement to join the Bears, marking Philadelphia’s move to secure his replacement.
