The Caleb Williams Era is officially underway.
So says Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus:
MORE: Caleb Williams Wasted No Time Organizing Team Activities
You’ll remember this moment for as long as you’re a Bears fan.
The Caleb Williams Era is underway
Eberflus made it officially official during his Friday press conference at Halas Hall ahead of Day 1 of the Bears’ rookie minicamp session. This was never in question. There was never going to be a debate about it. At least, not one that was going to be made in good faith. Sure, Cris Collinsworth raved about Tyson Bagent’s upside and potential during Sunday Night Football. And I’m digging the vibes that UDFA rookie Austin Reed brings to the table. But it was always going to be Caleb Williams as QB1. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
Getting the confirmation from Coach Eberflus was cool and all, but I thought his answer to a question about Caleb’s aura was the most interesting thing he said in his press conference:

Reporter: How would you describe his aura?
Eberflus: I’ve said it before. You can really tell he’s comfortable with himself in his own skin and he is who he is. His personality starts and his light comes out from the inside. You can certainly feel that energy. He’s a 1 + 1 equals 3 guy. So he’s an enhancer. He’s a guy that brings out the best in people. And you can certainly feel that within five minutes of meeting him.
I’ve never heard a player described as being a “1 + 1 equals 3 guy” — but if anyone was going to fit that description, it was going to be Caleb Williams.
The vibes are immaculate and the aura is impeccable at this moment. What a time to be a Chicago Bears fan.
