The look and feel of the NBC Sports Chicago broadcasts will be a bit different starting this season, at least in terms of the studio shows. While we already know that this will be the last year for Pat Foley on play-by-play, we did not know that last season was the last for in-studio Blackhawks analysts Steve Konroyd and Jamal Mayers, as well.
According to Jeff Agrest of the Chicago Sun-Times, both Konroyd and Mayers will not be returning to NBC Sports Chicago for the 2021-22 season.
Additionally, the Blackhawks and NBC Sports Chicago announced today that Colby Cohen will be joining the organization and the broadcast team starting this season.
*taps mic* is this thing on?
Former NHLer and ESPN broadcaster Colby Cohen (@ColbyCohen36) is joining our team as a Content Analyst!
— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) August 26, 2021
Cohen’s role within the Blackhawks organization has been labeled a “Content Analyst” and will include work on the team’s social media channels, podcasts, and on the team’s website. Within his role with NBC Sports Chicago, Cohen will appear as an in-studio analyst during pre-game, post-game, and intermissions, as well as filling-in for Eddie Olyczyk as a color analyst when Olyczyk is unavailable during National broadcasts for Turner Sports, something he did this past season on April 17.
