Unsurprisingly, the Chicago Blackhawks have announced that forward Jujhar Khaira is in concussion protocol and the team has placed him on injured reserve.

Khaira was knocked out of Tuesday night’s contest against the New York Rangers following a vicious hit to the head from Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba. There was no penalty called on the play and Trouba was not fined or suspended for the hit to Khaira’s head. Khaira was unconscious and had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher. He spent the night in the hospital and was released earlier today.
The former third-round pick has two goals in 17 games for the Blackhawks this season after signing with Chicago as a free agent.
