On Sunday afternoon, as half of the remaining roster traveled to Milwaukee for Sunday night’s game, the Blackhawks announced they’re going to be down one veteran forward for the first month of the regular season.
Boris Katchouk skated 11:53 and was credited with four hits and two takeaways on Saturday night at the United Center. But he exited with a lower body injury that has now been defined as a left ankle sprain. The Blackhawks announced Sunday that he’s expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Katchouk, 24, was acquired from Tampa in the Brandon Hagel deal last season. He produced one point — a goal — and 14 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Blackhawks last season.
The Blackhawks also announced Jujhar Khaira is day-to-day with a right ankle injury.
