Kane and Toews’ Agent Pat Brisson Drives the NHL Star Market Beyond Chicago

Chicago Blackhawks

Over the past few months, we’ve heard a lot of different reports mention the name Pat Brisson. He’s the agent who has represented Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews for years, so he’s been in the middle of the conversations about the Blackhawks’ future since last summer.

But those aren’t his only two clients on the Blackhawks’ payroll right now. Indeed, Brisson may have as much influence on the Blackhawks short- and long-term future as any agent. And his clients are all over the top of lineups across the NHL.

Brisson, who works for CAA, has arguably the most impressive client roster in the league right now. According to PuckPedia, Brisson has more than $1.2 billion (with a B) in active contracts right now. That’s almost $200 million more than any other agent in the NHL.

And right at the top of the list of organizations with whom he has clients is the Chicago Blackhawks, who have seven Brisson clients on the roster.

In addition to Kane and Toews, Brisson represents Seth Jones, Caleb Jones, Jack Johnson, Philipp Kurashev and Cole Guttman (Rockford). But that’s just the Blackhawks’ portion on his client list.

Brisson also represents Sidney Crosby, John Tavares, Anze Kopitar, Jack and Quinn Hughes, Nathan MacKinnon, Jason Robertson, Claude Giroux, Elias Pettersson, Trevor Zegras, Owen Power, Matty Beniers and Cole Caufield among the long line well-paid stars who have his number on speed dial.

Power player? He could host an all-star game of just his clients.

And if a team has interest in one of his clients, they can call to talk about “how’s MacKinnon feeling?” or “what Sidney did in Florida over the all-star break?” and then maybe sneak in a question about a player’s feelings about their city and players.

As we get closer to the trade deadline, you’ll hear more about Brisson’s influence around the league. It’s worth keeping in mind that, when he talks to the Blackhawks’ front office, it could be about any number of players.
