Blackhawks Place Toews, Tinordi and Stalock on IR, Recall Guttman, Seney and Phillips

Chicago Blackhawks

With a game in a few short hours in Toronto, the Blackhawks announced a wave of roster moves on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blackhawks placed forward Jonathan Toews (non-COVID related illness, retroactive Feb. 7), goaltender Alex Stalock (ocular dysfunction, retroactive Jan. 16) and defenseman Jarred Tinordi (knee sprain) on IR. The specifics of the injuries to Stalock and Tinordi are interesting; it’s unfortunate Tinordi is going to miss more time and a knee sprain is a tough blow.

They also announced the team has recalled forwards Cole Guttman and Brett Seney and defenseman Isaak Phillips from Rockford. It looks like Guttman will make his NHL debut this evening.

The Blackhawks had a number of guys get banged up last night so there might be a few “somewhat-healthy” scratches. Jason Dickinson took a shot to the hand/wrist and Max Domi took a hard hit late in the game as well.

It’s exciting that Guttman got the call this time. Since signing with the Blackhawks as a college free agent, he’s been terrific. He has 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points in 39 games for the IceHogs this season.
