Samuel Savoie appeared in his first NHL preseason game on Saturday evening in Minnesota. In the second period, he went for a hit on veteran defenseman Alex Goligoski and missed, resulting in an awkward collision with the boards that left Savoie screaming in pain.
Savoie, 19, was a third-round pick by the Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Draft. He was likely heading back to the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL at some point, but this injury certainly looks bad.
I will not speculate about what the injury is, but he left the ice on a stretcher laying on his left side in a lot of discomfort.
If/When we get any updates I’ll share them here. Hoping for some good news for Savoie but this looked pretty bad.
