On Saturday morning, the NHL named the finalists for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. Those three finalists are Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, Canucks forward Elias Petterson, and Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin.
First awarded in 1924-25, the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy is presented annually “to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”
In the history of the award, three Blackhawks have been the winner in four seasons:
Patrick Kane was the runner-up in 2012-13.
