It’s “Tough” To Guard Coby White, Sato’s Positive Attitude, Big Boards, Ankle Breakers, and Other Bulls Bullets

I know a person once threatened to stop reading if I gave my Bachelor thoughts again, but last night was the finale, so cut me a break gosh darn it! And, just for you, I’ll keep it short (Michael: Alright, pack it in … this is now Bachelor Nation).

Barb is a monster. Peter is so indecisive. Madison is a queen (but also kinda indecisive). Hannah Ann is back on my good side. Chris Harrison is a stirrer of the pot. Peter’s dad is in an unfortunate situation. Peter’s brother definitely has the hots for Hannah Ann (so does Barb). The Bachelor is terrible and great all at the same time.

Okay, see that wasn’t so bad?

Bulls time!

  • Give me one word to describe what it’s like to guard Coby White:
  • Last night, White took the court for his first career start and, all things considered, he didn’t disappoint. The rookie certainly needs to be more careful with the basketball moving forward – he had nine turnovers – but he still led his team to only its third victory in the last 16 games.
  • White scored 20 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists and quickly showed head coach Jim Boylen that his off-the-bench success can translate into the starting lineup. However, arguably the most encouraging part about White’s performance was the Bulls’ well-rounded offensive attack. While it’s hard to attribute that solely to White (though he does draw some extra attention and help his team space the floor), I think it’s safe to say his presence added a new level of energy. Wendell Carter Jr., Lauri Markkanen, Denzel Valentine, and Otto Porter all scored in double figures alongside White. The majority of those names are exactly the guys you want to see at the top of the box score list.
  • White went head-to-head with Rising Star and Cavs guard Collin Sexton, who has posted one of the better sophomore seasons in the NBA. And Sexton may have won the point battle (26), but White won the game. And this specific matchup with Sexton is what made White’s first start such an intriguing one. A win over the Cavaliers, in general, isn’t anything to hand your hat on, but going toe-to-toe with one of the most promising, young guards in the NBA is notable.
  • The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry spoke with White and Sexton about their battle, and it’s worth a read. Sexton threw quite a few compliments White’s way.
  • And for more of White’s thoughts on his first start, here’s this:
  • We just went over this, guarding White is TOUGH.

  • I feel like we need to rename our social account Bleacher Nation Coby White (ba dum tss). The only thing all that fun to write about right now is the rookie’s success, but I think one player deserves props for not rocking the boat. Tomas Satoransky has handled this whole situation like a true professional. In many ways, this was the exact reason he was brought in. I always viewed Sato as more of a bridge piece between White and the starting lineup, and there are not many players in the NBA who could handle that expectation as smoothly as he did. Satoransky is truly a team player, and while I recognize he had his struggles in the starting lineup, I still believe he’s an incredibly valuable piece to have in this rotation. I’ll be interested to see if he can turn into a true leader for the second unit. Maybe he and Thad can get something going.
  • “I respected that because I kind of expected that, also,” Satoransky told NBC Sports Chicago. “It was logical the way I’ve been playing since All-Star break and the way Coby has been playing. Sometimes that happens to you as a player. I’m just happy for him. He’s been helping us win the game. He’s been balling out. I felt like he deserved that chance.” TEAM. PLAYER.
  • Shaquille Harrison had 10 rebounds last night. Uh, wow.
  • I don’t know who the heck watches the game anymore … so here are the highlights!

  • Immediately, I understand the argument that’ll be made here by #LeBronLovers. Jordan took a break. Bron has played 17 years! Bron is the best. I’d die for BRON. AHHHH!!! Well, if you ask me, I think a major part of Jordan’s legacy is the fact that he could literally leave the game whenever he wanted and still come back to be the best of the best. The minute-total may not be as high, but he dictated the game like nobody else. In conclusion, Jordan is the GOAT.
