The Philadelphia 76ers have tied a bow on their offer to Doc Rivers. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides reached an agreement on a multi-year deal Thursday evening, which means it only took the long-time NBA head coach three days to find a new gig since being fired by the Los Angeles Clippers.
Rivers connected quickly with GM Elton Brand and Sixers ownership in Wednesday's meetings and sides moved quickly toward negotiating a multi-year deal that culminated with a formal agreement minutes ago, sources said. https://t.co/LCt5BhbkNX

Considering Rivers has been at the helm of a playoff-caliber team for quite some time, this decision makes sense. The organization is currently going through a facelift, and Rivers can be another important part of trying to fix the infrastructure around what many believe to be a championship-caliber roster.
In the grand scheme things, we’ll just have to wait and see if this truly changes anything in Philly. We know they should hold one of the eight playoff seeds next season, but whether or not they’re legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference will depend on how Rivers gets his new duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to click. If one thing is for sure, though, Philly convinced Rivers that they had the best shot at earning him a second ring, as the Houston Rockets were also reportedly in the mix for the head coach’s services as well.
I get it. The eastern conference can seem easier at times … but little does Rivers know that he’ll soon have to face the wrath of the might Bulls!
