Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan might be new to Chicago, but the two are already making their presence felt in the community.
On Tuesday night, CBS Chicago’s Jackie Kostek shared footage of the Bulls’ two starters surprising the Kelly High School girls basketball team. Ball and DeRozan were also joined by Javonte Green, Alize Johnson, Troy Brown Jr., and Tony Bradley.
Half the Bulls roster just gave the southwest side ballers from Kelly High School one heck of a surprise! They had no idea they’d be getting coached by @ZO2_ and @DeMar_DeRozan today but here they are 🤩 @cbschicago pic.twitter.com/w6iXkdw30x

According to Kostek, the six players helped coach and officiate a surprise tournament, which surely sounds like one hell of a practice session to me.
Coach Ball at the helm for one team from Kelly High School for today's surprise tourney. These girls haven't lost a game since 2019 so shouldn't be too tall of a task for @ZO2_ @CPLAthletics #BullsNation pic.twitter.com/CdkpRXmRLi

The basketball team from Kelly High School in Brighton Park is being coached *and* officiated by the Bulls today. @Troy_Brown33 says it's not his first time reffing…he's done it for the Special Olympics #BullsNation @cbschicago pic.twitter.com/Agna51hkXL

First things first, it’s awesome to see the Bulls out and about like this in the Chicagoland area, and I’m super happy for all the young women who surely made lifelong memories today. At the same time … talk about the pressure being ramped up! You think you’re about to go through a casual practice before … BOOM … now you gotta hit buckets in front of a guy who dropped 28 points on the Charlotte Hornets less than 24 hours ago. I hope everyone there was a lot braver than me because I’d be just trying to set the possible screens I can in fear of screwing anything else up.
