Alex Caruso left Wednesday night’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets with an ankle injury and will not return, per the team.
While running back up the floor in transition, Caruso accidentally stepped on Ben Simmons’ foot, causing him to tweak his ankle. A grimacing Caruso proceeded to play through the next couple of possessions, but head coach Billy Donovan eventually pulled him out of the game.
We’ll now anxiously await an update on the severity of the injury after the game. Caruso already had to miss three games at the end of December due to a concussion and shoulder sprain, and the Bulls’ schedule sure isn’t getting any easier over the next few games.
After a back-to-back set against the 76ers and Jazz this weekend, the Bulls will see the No. 1-seeded Boston Celtics on Monday. Let’s hope Caruso can return sometime over that three-game stretch.
