The Philadelphia 76ers have decided to move on from head coach Doc Rivers, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
A well-renowned coaching figure across the league, Rivers should have plenty of interest from franchises looking to immediately enter or stay in the competitive mix. Both the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks are in the market for a new leading man and could be interesting teams to keep an eye on.
As for the 76ers, Wojnarowski has already shared a list of potential candidates, including Mike Budenholzer, Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel, Mike D’Antoni, and current Philly assistant Sam Cassell.
The news comes in the wake of the 76ers’ third-straight second-round exit. The organization has now dropped out of the postseason in the East semifinals in five of the past six seasons. Rivers has been the coach for the last three.
