The Shelby County Police reportedly went to Ja Morant’s home in Tennessee on Wednesday to check on his well-being, according to TMZ.
The visit was in response to a startling and cryptic social media post by the Memphis Grizzlies superstar. Morant posted photos of his mother, father, and daughter on his Instagram story before ending with an image that just read “bye.” The post quickly spread over social media, as fans voiced concern about Morant’s mental state.
Fortunately, police were able to report back to TMZ that Morant is doing “fine.” The 23-year-old also apparently informed offices that the series of posts was to indicate that he is taking a break from social media.
The situation only adds to the recent drama around Morant. Suspended earlier in the season for flashing a gun on Instagram Live, Morant was caught doing the exact same thing earlier this month. The Grizzlies immediately announced that Morant would not be involved in team activities as the league reviewed the second incident, and the expectation is that Morant could face another lengthy suspension to start the 2023-24 season.
