Please be ok, Coby White.
The Chicago Bulls guard was forced to leave Wednesday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers after a nasty collision. White found himself with a fastbreak opportunity late in the fourth quarter. Pascal Siakam was able to track him down in transition and rise for the impressive chase-down block. Unfortunately, the big man also came down hard on White’s back, forcing him to land awkwardly.
White immediately grabbed for his hip and rolled on the court in pain. While he’d ultimately be able to walk to the locker room with minimal assistance, it wasn’t without a severe limp.

Coby White Injury Update
Despite DeMar DeRozan forcing OT with a clutch turnaround jumper, Coby White wasn’t able to return for the Bulls’ 132-129 victory. Head coach Billy Donovan also didn’t provide much of a positive update after the game.
“It looks like his hip right now. I don’t have anymore detail than that. I know in Chicago he’s gonna have to get examined what that is. I’m not quite sure whether x-rays or MRI … It’s their hip they believe. But they don’t know the extent,” Donovan told reporters after the game (h/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune for the video).
If one thing is for sure, I feel like it’s safe to assume he will miss his first game of the season on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. All we can do now is hope that his absence doesn’t extend much further than that. White has been one of the NBA’s best feel-good stories of the year, and he’s given Bulls fans a real reason for optimism moving forward. With the team in the mix for the Play-In Tournament, one can only hope he can continue that story sooner than later.
