Jamal Murray might have jumped headfirst into some hot water.
During Monday night’s Game 2 battle against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Denver Nuggets point guard appeared to throw a heating pad onto the court. The object landed right under the feet of Karl-Anthony Towns as he grabbed an assist from Kyle Anderson and rose for the layup. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope proceeded to pick up the pad and toss it back over to the bench.
The NBA on TNT crew zoomed in on Murray and showed the moment here:
Murray could try to claim it was an accident, but I have a hard time believing he’ll get the benefit of the doubt. The video pretty clearly shows he’s frustrated and willingly lets go of the heating pad.
I have to imagine the NBA will announce that they’re investigating this matter after the game. If the word “suspension” is thrown around before Game 3, I’m not going to be surprised. The Timberwolves went on to take a shocking 61-35 lead into the locker room against the defending camps.
