Totally unrelated to the Cubs, but this is HUGE news. Sports Illustrated is reporting that Alex Rodriguez tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2003, his last season with the Rangers.
This was before there were mandatory penalties for positive tests.
When asked for comment before SI ran with the story, Rodriguez didn’t have much to say (which does not mean he’s guilty, I’m just pointing it out).
When approached by an SI reporter on Thursday at a gym in Miami, Rodriguez declined to discuss his 2003 test results. “You’ll have to talk to the union,” said Rodriguez, the Yankees’ third baseman since his trade to New York in February 2004. When asked if there was an explanation for his positive test, he said, “I’m not saying anything.”
Wow. If true, this is a bombshell.
