When Jeff Baker’s 9th inning double somehow bounded into the seats in center field, erasing what would have been the game-winning run, you knew this game was over. That kind of thing happens only to the Cubs (seriously, a ground-rule double by way of a bounce into the stands? at Wrigley?), and the day was done.
But then, like, it wasn’t. I’m still not sure that really just happened. But I’m smiling.
